Mini-Wreath Decorating

Come and enjoy a crafty family workshop together in December, surrounded by fresh seasonal foliage and the festive scents of the woods.

We invite you, your little ones, friends and family to gather around the table and be guided through the fun process of decorating your own unique mini-wreaths. Children love choosing their own small, pre-woven willow bases—the perfect size for hanging proudly on a bedroom door or on the tree - while grown-ups will find a wonderful space to slow down and create a bigger decoration alongside them. With a deep focus on locally sourced and sustainable greenery, our tables will be overflowing with an abundance of freshly foraged evergreens like pine, holly and cedar, alongside colorful twigs and trailing ivy.

To bring your wreath decorations to life, I’ve prepared a spectacular harvest of natural adornments for your family to explore, handle, and arrange. Little fingers can pick from a buffet of fruit slices, delicate seedheads, and an assortment of pinecones, all lovingly collected and hand-dried just for these sessions. Using simple twine, wire and colorful ribbons, multiple generations can safely craft side-by-side, with plenty of guidance and absolutely none of the stress or mess of hot glue guns.

Our workshops are being held in Stoborough CE Primary school hall, turning familiar space into a warm, relaxed crafting studio with plenty of room for families to spread out, chat, and enjoy a drink. It is the perfect, unhurried Saturday activity to disconnect from screens, reconnect with nature, and make a beautiful Christmas memory together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything?

No - just bring yourself! If you have anything from your garden that you would like to incorporate into your wreath, do feel free to bring it (for example, sprigs of rosemary, or interesting seed heads). Aside from ribbon, I offer only natural embellishments; occasionally people like to bring a special decoration to add to their wreath, or fairy lights.

Where exactly is it?

Stoborough CE Primary School is on Corfe Road, Stoborough, Wareham, Dorset BH20 5AD.

What age children is this suitable for?

In the past, children of all ages have managed to participate, including Reception and pre-schoolers. The younger your child, the more assistance they will need from their grown ups! I will be on hand to help as much as possible, but it can help to bring along extra friends or family to assist the children with their creations.

How big are the mini-wreaths?

There will be different sized willow bases available given the age of the children and grown-ups coming - they can be decorated with full foliage, or you can leave part of them bare to show off the willow. The larger the base, the more work is needed to decorate! If you would like to make a full sized wreath for your front door, please consider one of my Festive Wreath Making Workshops. I also have a Family Friendly Wreath Workshop where grownups are welcome to bring their babies or toddlers :)

What is the price?

The cost of the workshop is £7.50 per person, and this includes all materials, tools and tuition.

How do I book?

You can reserve a place below, or email lucy@sacredcrafting.com. You'll be sent details of how to pay by bank transfer, or you are welcome to get cash to me if you're local to Wareham/Stoborough. I can send a link for online payment, but the costs incurred for low-price ticket events are prohibitive for me to offer online booking more widely.

What if I'm not crafty?

Every person who has attended a past workshop - whether crafty or not - has had a lot of fun and gone home with a decoration they are proud of. They ease in to the spirit of play, enjoying the variety of textures and colours to choose from. You will be guided every step of the way from an experienced tutor, so don't let past experiences of crafting put you off!

What Clients Say

"Lucy hosted such a lovely session last year and I am so excited to make more beautiful, natural wreaths with her this December.  I took my baby along and it was easy to dip in and out, with Lucy lending a hand and sharing so much knowledge about the natural materials that we weaved into our wreaths."

Marja W

"Hi, Lucy I really enjoyed the wreath making session. Not having been to anything like it before I was not sure what to expect but to me everything was delightful and really interesting. The time flew past and all the choice of greenery you provided was amazing. The making of the base with willow canes was to me most informative. A very enjoyable time."

MH

"Thank you so much for the gorgeous workshop yesterday. I am so happy with my wreath and it was beautiful to have some quiet and creative time to focus on making it. Thank you again for creating such a welcoming and warm space and for all the work that you put in to providing this and the materials for us to work with."

Helen

"I loved, loved the wreath making. Your incredible efforts really made it such a special crafting experience."

Katharine

"I just wanted to let you know how very much I enjoyed the workshop this afternoon. You had obviously spent so much time preparing the willow and foraging the foliage and you were generous of spirit the whole afternoon. Thankyou so much, the wreath will always be part of our family Christmas."

R

"Thank you for putting on the class and welcoming us into your lovely home. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's so nice to be able to learn a new skill in a relaxed social environment like that. It was lovely to have drinks and nibbles too."

Hannah

"Wreath making with Lucy was worth every penny! The variety of foliage and decorations that were all lovingly prepared was incredible, you could really tell that a lot of time had gone into making sure everything was perfectly dried out and pruned to go onto the wreaths.
It was all clearly explained and so that the youngest participants felt engaged and confident to go ahead and create a beautiful wreath too! Everything was included so you just turn up and let the creativity flow, there was nibbles and drinks, I could have stayed there all day making them!"
